ToolsOur project managers are trained to use state of the art, secure, web-based project management tools that allow them to effectively assess work progress, risks and critical paths and to collaborate with our customers during weekly web conferences. Our electronic time entry system records hours worked into the appropriate Microsoft Project schedule and into our project cost accounting system, allowing project managers to monitor schedules and budgets in real time. For executives and managers needing a high-level status overview, Microsoft Excel spreadsheets and graphs provide a summary of progress of each phase on a weekly basis. Our web-based CM, problem reporting and peer review management tool also provides an intuitive and integrated means to provide full evidence of DO-178B compliance at every step of the lifecycle. TrainingEach of our project managers is trained to use Microsoft Project, our project management process and some are pursuing masters degrees in project management as well. ProcessBased on the fundamental project management principals of PMI’s PMBOK and refined through years of project experience to apply best practices and lessons learned from previous projects, Avionyx’ has developed a mature project management process that insures minimum project cost, schedule and risk. Project progress is constantly monitored and compared against the plan and reported to customers weekly in order to identify risks and problems early in the process before they can significantly affect the project performance. Effective team communication, empowerment and motivation are also essential to get buy-in from team members and maximize efficiency. Our project management process provides template documents for QA, CM, development, verification as well as requirement, design and coding standards, all of which can be customized to support DO-178B Level A-D projects as well as non-safety-critical projects that require minimal overhead.
